Direct Mail Sales Tax Exemption Retained in New York State We are pleased to announce a major victory for our industry in New York State. After a four-month battle, a final 2010-11 budget has been approved that retains the New York States Sales and Use Tax exemption on printed promotional materials delivered through the mail. Thank you to all of our members who took the time to get involved in this effort. We know the demands on your time and it is very easy to be cynical about political action in these days of dysfunctional government and billion dollar budget deficits. We also had some outstanding coalition partners that worked very closely together and covered almost every aspect of our industry. Click here to read more about this story.

More Info about the "Red Tape Review Group" As we advised a few months ago, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie established shortly after his inauguration a bi-partisan “Red Tape Review Group” which was tasked with identifying and reducing unnecessary and cumbersome government bureaucracy in the State. The Group’s 60+-page Final Report was issued on Monday and PIA is in the process of reviewing it. One of the group participants, Assemblyman John Burzichelli, has also put out a video about the report. Contact Vicki Keenan at vkeenan@PIAlliance.org with any questions.
